Sheetz wants more pumps, parking

Sheetz has plans to expand its Frostburg store, according to Richard Harris, the city’s director of development, who said Friday that the Altoona, Pa.-based company will send representatives to an Aug. 13 meeting of the Planning Commission to ask for approval.

“It’s a very busy store,” said City Administrator John Kirby. “It’s one of only two gas stations in the city and it’s the first one you come to after leaving the interstate. There are always a lot of out-of-state cars there.”

Harris said Sheetz wants to put an addition of about 1,820 square feet to the rear of the existing building. Twelve new parking spaces would also result, bringing the total to 49. In addition, two additional gasoline pumps are on the company’s drawings that have been supplied to the city.

An attempt by the Times-News to contact a Sheetz spokesman was not successful.
