Schools, country need to get back to basics

To the Editor:

In response to “What part of can’t afford it don’t you understand?” is what happens when our government lets a non-believer talk them into taking prayer out of school and doing away with the Pledge to the American Flag and removing God’s words from buildings.

And also when you can’t correct your children at home or the teachers can’t at school. This all need to be brought back into the school system. The schools today need high school principals and teachers like I had at Hampshire High in the 1960s.

I guarantee you who have walked the straight and narrow. The school system right along with this country needs to get back to the basics. Drugs and guns were around but not in the schools. And the only time you saw a lawman was at the school ball game.

Back then the children really learned and the teachers made sure of that but now that’s all changed. And you never thought about bringing a gun to school because if you did you would have had the devil to pay. The teachers were there for you and not a pay check. And better not talk back to a grown-up if you knew what was good for you!
