Career, technical center has new look, new Webmaster Senior Aaron Zuknick has busy time

The Web site for South Branch Career and Technical Center has a new look and a new Webmaster. Aaron Zuknick, a Pendleton County High School senior, has been very busy for the last two weeks updating the center’s Web page.

Zuknick describes the Web page update as a challenging, ongoing process. Using Microsoft FrontPage, he plans to have teacher links complete with e-mail addresses and eventually online study guides added to the Web page.

“These will allow parents to be aware of the courses here and communicate with the teachers.” Zuknick said. Ron Odom, Networking Technologies instructor at South Branch, describes Zuknick as an excellent student, a self-starter who always volunteers for extra-curricular activities and projects around the school.

Odom said when asked for volunteers to work on the Web site, Aaron jumped at the opportunity. Another project Zuknick has spear-headed at the center is installing a WLAN (wireless local area network) for the office area. “I was able to install the WLAN using knowledge from the Networking class,” Zuknick said.

Ron Grimes, the West Virginia state-appointed monitor said, “The WLAN technology promotes a more efficient office environment, allowing notebook computers to be utilized in areas where hard wire connections are not available. Aaron has done an outstanding job.”

Aaron lives in Franklin with his father, Edward Zuknick, to whom he credits his work ethic and desire for knowledge. After graduation, Zuknick plans to attend Fairmont State University and receive a degree in Information Systems. He has been assigned the task of training a high school junior as the new Webmaster for the 2008-09 school year.
