WESTERNPORT - A Home Interiors and Longaberger basket bingo has been scheduled for May 16 at the Westernport American Legion for the benefit of 3-year-old Kaden Sharpless.
The son of Marty and Stephanie Sharpless of Bel Air, Kaden was diagnosed in March with stage 3 neuroblastoma, considered the second rarest of childhood cancers.
He has been a patient at Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore, where he has undergone a series of tests, procedures and surgeries and is now completing chemotherapy.
During Kaden's treatment, he and his family travel back and forth to Baltimore weekly, and those sponsoring the bingo fundraiser hope to raise enough money to help defray some of the cost of their trips.
Becky Donnellan, Home Interiors decorating consultant, and Cory Gray, Longaberger basket consultant, are co-chairing the fundraiser, and are urging family and friends of the Sharpless family, as well as area businesses, professional people and individuals, to make a monetary donation to either help cover the cost of the prizes for the bingo or go directly toward helping the Sharpless family.
Checks may be made payable to the Kaden Sharpless Benefit Fund and mailed to the M&T; Bank, Westernport Branch, 51 Main St., Westernport, MD 21562.
Doors for the bingo will open at 5 p.m. and the games will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets are available for a $20 donation.
For further information, call Donnellan at (301) 359-3641 or (301) 707-4123 or Gray at (301) 689-0136 or (301) 876-3677.
