Vehicles in used car lot struck, driver arrested
OAKLAND - A 45-year-old Oakland man was arrested on various charges Monday evening after his vehicle struck several parked vehicles at a used car lot on Hutton Road, according to the Garrett County Sheriff's Office.
Dayrle Lee Lambert was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with license privileges suspended, reckless driving, driving with an open alcoholic beverage, failure to yield right of way and driving while under the influence following the 6:15 p.m. incident that occurred in the 5000 block of Hutton Road about a mile west of Oakland.
Lambert was jailed to await a bond hearing.
Police said Lambert was operating a Ford Explorer westbound on Hutton Road in a reckless manner when he failed to yield right of way while making a left turn, resulting in a collision with an eastbound 1998 Dodge Neon operated by Charles D. Knox, 43, of Oakland.
The Lambert vehicle then struck several parked vehicles at the Classic Cars used lot.
Two passengers in the Knox vehicle, Bernadine Knox and Sandra Smith, were injured and taken to Garrett Memorial Hospital for treatment. No information was available concerning their injuries or conditions.
A witness, Shelby Foutz, was also injured when she was struck by one of the parked vehicles. She declined medical treatment.
Southern Rescue Squad and Oakland Volunteer Fire Department also responded.
