Juliet M. Kenney [Billings]
BILLINGS, Mont. — Juliet M. (Geiser) Kenney died on Dec. 3, 2007, at Central Montana Medical Center/Hospice in Lewistown.
She was born on Aug. 28, 1924, in Bellevue, Pa., the daughter of Roger and Laura (Long) Geiser.
Following high school she attended business school and then joined the United States Cadet Nurse Corps at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
She married Raymond P. Kenney of Frostburg, Md., in 1948. From this union they had five children: Daniel, Thomas, Laura, Ginny and Patricia.
In 1961 the family moved from the east to Arizona and Juliet went to work for the United States Public Health Service in San Carlos, Ariz. She moved to Montana with her family in 1967 and continued her nursing career. In 1975 Juliet went to the University of Utah, Salt Lake, and attained her Family Nurse Practitioner License. She was a pioneer in this endeavor as one of the first nurse practitioners in Montana.
Juliet was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; her daughter, Ginny (Virginia); her brother, Arthur; and her sons-in-law, Don Stoner and James Powell.
Juliet is survived by one sister, Beverly Leonard of Florida; her sisters-in-law, Rita Kenney of Maryland, and Anita Geiser of West Virginia; and her son, Daniel, Veronica, Tamara and Christopher Kenney of San Antonio, Texas. Additionally she is survived by Thomas Kenney (Sean and Kayla) Kenney of San Carlos, Laura Kenney (Brian and Kelly) of Billings, and Patricia (Frank) Thompson and Travis Frickle of Billings and Lewistown.
Juliet was a longtime resident of Billings.
She was a great cook, an expert seamstress and a devout dog lover. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Billings, where she was a Eucharistic minister. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America 1151, the Yellowstone Genealogy Society and a Rocky Mountain Hospice of Billings volunteer. She continued to be involved until the time of her death.
A memorial Mass will be said at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2055 Woody Drive, in Billings, at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008.
Interment will be in the spring at the Lewistown Calvary Cemetery with graveside services.
