Halloween Parade plans continue

CUMBERLAND — The South Cumberland Business and Civic Association continued to prepare for this year’s Halloween Parade at its recent meeting.

New contributors to the Wednesday event included Aircon Engineering, Potomac Federal Credit Union and CBIZ. Parade chairwoman Marsha Thomas requested help from the 66 members who attended the meeting and set up a preparade meeting Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church on Grand Avenue.

The association now meets at the Outdoor Club off Industrial Boulevard the second Thursday of the month. Jim Ortiz is president.

New members introduced were Kim Pannone and Theresa Pannone, who are involved in dog training and dog sitting.

Entertainment was provided by the Chorus of the Potomac.

The next meeting will be a Thanksgiving meeting Nov. 8. Anyone interested in joining the association can make reservations by calling Rosella Chalkley at (301) 722-8553.

Medical group fights cancer

CUMBERLAND — Braddock Medical Group recently joined thousands of other participants in Lee National Denim Day.

The employees each made a $5 contribution to wear jeans to work and raise money for breast cancer awareness.

They also held a bake sale and the doctors made a contribution.

Salon celebrates first anniversary

OAKLAND — Nola’s Salon, 212 E. Alder St., will celebrate its first anniversary on Wednesday.

There will be an open house from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The salon will be offering door prizes and the day will feature a Roaring 20s theme.

Nola’s is a full-service salon offering the latest styles, colors and nail services. Stylists Charlie Miller, Katy Roderick, Tara Talbot, Amy Upole and Alissa Garland offer a variety of styles.

Six win Chick-Fil-A for a year

LAVALE — During September, Chick-Fil-A at the Country Club Mall offered customers who bought a medium nugget tray the opportunity to win free Chick-Fil-A for a year.

Six winners were drawn at the end of the month with the following people winning 52 free combo meals, valued at $312: Larry Yommer, Sarah Taylor, Joyce Dignan, Tony Dignan, Mike Humbertson and Amanda Funkhouser.

Six winners a month will be drawn until the end of the year for anyone who purchases a medium nugget tray.

Paugh joins Susquehanna Bank

MCHENRY — Susquehanna Bank announces the addition of Matthew Paugh to its Retail Division. Paugh will hold the position of branch manager at the bank’s McHenry branch.

As branch manager, Paugh will oversee the daily office functions and manage the branch staff. He is responsible for expanding and developing retail and commercial sales relationships as well as assisting existing customers. Paugh joins Susquehanna Bank with six years of banking experience.

“Matthew brings a variety of experience to his new role as the branch manager of the McHenry office,” said Kathy Getty, senior executive vice president, and regional president of Susquehanna Bank. “We are confident that he will demonstrate our commitment to customer service as we grow to better serve our customers.”

Paugh has recently moved back to the area from Missouri. Paugh is actively involved in his church, Kitzmiller Assembly of God, where he currently serves as a teacher and music director. His hobbies and interests include geocaching, racquetball and playing the saxophone and piano.
