Preston County woman reportedly stabbed by husband; two children safe

BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. - A Bruceton Mills man accused of stabbing his wife and running away with their two young children was in custody in Pennsylvania on Tuesday afternoon. The woman was flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Preston Chief Deputy Jeff Roberson said the woman is 25, her husband 29. Names were not being released.

Their children, ages 5 years and 10 months, reportedly were not harmed, Roberson said, and were in the care of Greene County, Pa., authorities. Roberson said one child is a boy, the other a girl.

Sgt. Ken Wotring and Deputy 1st Class Paul Pritt were dispatched to the Glade Farms or Flat Rock Road area, north of Bruceton on state Route 26 at 2:51 p.m. They talked with the woman and issued an alert for the children.

Pennsylvania police, meanwhile, had arrested the husband on a road-law violation at about 4 p.m., before the alert reached them. Roberson said the Preston County prosecuting attorney would meet with officers, then decide what charges to file.
