Cumberland makes small city arts list

CUMBERLAND - Cumberland's Arts & Entertainment District has received another boost.

Readers of AmericanStyle magazine ranked the city as the 21st top small city arts destination in a recent readers' poll. Cumberland fills the slot that Annapolis held last year. The state's capital moved up seven in this year's poll to No. 14.

The Small Cities and Towns category looked at populations less than 100,000. Santa Fe, N.M., took top honors for the second year in a row. Sedona, Ariz., and Key West, Fla., finished second and third, respectively.

Berkeley Springs, W.Va., also made the list at No. 11.

In the mid-size category, Pittsburgh took the top honor while in the big city category, with populations of 500,000 or more, Washington was fourth and Baltimore, 12th.

It's the third year that AmericanStyle readers were able to vote for their favorite arts destinations based on city size.

The results were published in the June issue.

Based in Baltimore, AmericanStyle first was published in 1995 and is a national arts lifestyle magazine.
