Mary K. Sutherland [Westernport]

WESTERNPORT - Mary Katherine (Popp) Sutherland, 86, a resident of Moran Manor went to be with the Lord Monday, April 30, 2007, at WMHS-Memorial Campus, Cumberland.

Born Jan. 26, 1921, in Kitzmiller, she was the daughter of the late Charles P. Popp and Mary E. (Kitzmiller) Popp. She was also preceded in death by her husband, William A. Sutherland; one brother, Frank Popp; and one great-grandchild.

Mrs. Sutherland was a life member of Petunia Council of Redmen, Westernport. She was also a member of Westernport American Legion and a member of Queens Point Memorial Auxilary V.F.W. 6775, McCoole. She was Baptist by faith.

She leaves behind six sons, William Sutherland and wife Cindy of Frederick, Robert Sutherland of Rochester, N.Y., Donald Sutherland and wife Karen of Keyser, W.Va., David Sutherland of Westernport, Michael Sutherland and wife Niola of Abingdon, and Thomas Sutherland and friend Marcie of Keyser; six daughters, Carolyn Pfarr and husband Ed of Kent Island, Judith Durr and husband Keith of Cross, W.Va., Betty Snyder and husband Jack of Westernport, Donna Johnston and husband John of Germantown, Rhonda Idleman and husband David of Elk Garden, W.Va., and Margie Sutherland and special friend Roy of Westernport. She is also survived by one brother, Raymond Popp of Connecticut; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral services will be conducted at Boal Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Homer Beeman officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
