WMHS Auxiliary's annual Snow Ball Jan. 20 at Cumberland Country Club

CUMBERLAND - Attendees at this year's Snow Ball at the Cumberland Country Club will be asked to "Just Imagine" the day when the Western Maryland Health System has one new hospital.

The WMHS Auxiliary helps support the important cause of health care in the community through the Snow Ball every year and this year's theme is tied to the auxiliary's $1 million pledge for the new hospital to be built on Willowbrook Road.

The Snow Ball is the premier black-tie charity event in the tri-state area. The 51st annual Snow Ball is scheduled Jan. 20 from 7 p.m. to midnight.

For $125 per person, the Snow Ball will feature a cocktail buffet with classic and contemporary offerings. Oxford House will provide desserts and Robert's Confectionery will offer specialty chocolates.

Mark's Daily Grind will have a distinctive selection of coffee to accompany dessert. A harpist will entertain guests as they enjoy desserts and coffee.

There is an open bar throughout the evening and valet parking will be available.

Queen City Funk and Soul will perform music for listening and dancing for the Snow Ball.

Reservations are requested now and payment is required in advance. Checks should be made payable to Western Maryland Health System Auxiliary and should be sent to Mrs. Joseph L. Reinhard, Snow Ball Reservations, 917 Braddock Road, Cumberland, MD 21502.

The country club will be embellished with opulent flowers and radiant candles for a beautiful atmosphere in the colors of silver, blue and periwinkle. The floral arrangements are enjoyed by WMHS patients after the Snow Ball.

The silent auction features an array of products and services as well as weekend getaways, event tickets, sports memorabilia and gift certificates. Individuals and businesses contribute to the silent auction and receive recognition in the Snow Ball program.

Corporate sponsors are recognized for multiple levels of giving.

Patrons and friends provide additional financial support and are also recognized.

A charm is available for attendees who wish to have a piece of fine jewelry related to the Snow Ball theme. Orders are taken at the Snow Ball.

Commemorative photographs of couples, groups and individuals are taken by a professional photographer during the event.

The WMHS Auxiliary is an organization of nearly 250 members who work to support the health system in many ways. Janice Hare is the president of the auxiliary. Jill Frank is the general chairwoman of Snow Ball 2007.
