ACM Foundation awards scholarships

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany College of Maryland Foundation has announced the awarding of scholarships to 10 students for study in the 2006-07 academic year.

* Amanda Beliveau, Rockwood, Pa., was presented an ACM Presidential Scholarship. She is a nursing major. A 2006 graduate of Rockwood Area High School, she is the daughter of George and Stacey Beliveau.

* Amanda Brain, Friedens, Pa., received a Helen A. Gilpin Memorial/-Vietnam Veterans Scholarship. She is enrolled in the medical assistant curriculum. A 2006 graduate of Somerset Area High School, she is the daughter of William Brain and Donna Truszka.

* Ashley Delancey, Garrett, Pa., was awarded an ACM Presidential Scholarship and the David G. Martin II Memorial Scholarship. She is a general studies major. A 2006 Meyersdale Area High School graduate employed at Rockland Manufacturing, she is the daughter of Deborah Delancy.

* Nicole Grof, Meyersdale, Pa., received an ACM Presidential Scholarship. She is a nursing major. A 2006 graduate of Meyersdale Area High School employed at Mason-Dixon Veterinary Service, she is the daughter of Robyn and Mike Petenbrink and Ken Grof.

* Sandy Hetz, Cumberland, received a Walter J. and Grace H. Maxey Scholarship. She is a general studies major. She is pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church in Cumberland. A 1971 Salisbury-Elk Lick High School graduate, she is married to D. Allen Hetz and is the mother of Kerensa Gray and Devi Davis.

* Shannan Kaminsky, Central City, Pa., received an ACM Presidential Scholarship. She is a dental hygiene major. A 2006 graduate of Shade-Central High School, she has worked as a cook at Fox’s Pizza Den.

She is the daughter of Deanne and James Kaminsky.

* Alvin C. Kline III, Central City, Pa., received a Mark and Judy Stern Academic Scholarship. He is a general studies major. A 2005 graduate of Shade-Central High School, he has worked as a cook for two years at Jean Bonnet Tavern in Bedford, Pa. He is the son of Sandra and Alvin Kline.

* Erica Ohler, Fort Hill, Pa., received an ACM Presidential Scholarship. She is a nursing major.

A 2006 graduate of Turkeyfoot High School, she is the daughter of Candice and Gary Ohler.

* Channing Potter, Somerset, Pa., was awarded an ACM Presidential Scholarship. She is a nursing major.

A 2006 graduate of Somerset Area High School who began her ACM studies through the Early College program, she is the daughter of William and Laurie Shaulis.

* Kayla Schrock, Berlin, Pa., was presented a Western Maryland Health System Scholarship. She is dental hygiene major. A 2004 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School, she is the daughter of Ronald and Michelle Schrock.
