Ginseng 101 at FSU

Penn State research assistant Eric Burkart and Larry Harding of Friendsville demonstrate ginseng planting Saturday during a Frostburg State University workshop on the growing, harvesting and sale of American Ginseng, an herb native to the woods of Appalachia and widely prized in Asia and elsewhere for its purported health benefits. The workshop was part of FSU’s ethnobotany program, which studies medicinal and other cultural uses for plants, and starter plants and seed were provided to participants.
