Four on the Floor back for Friday After Five gig
CUMBERLAND - Four on the Floor, a longtime audience favorite and one of the original bands that started Friday After Five, will be the opening act at 5 p.m. today on the Liberty Street Stage.
Featuring Harlan Brooke on drums, Robbie Brooke on keyboard, and Linda and Jerry Brockey on guitar, Four on the Floor plays a wide variety of 1950s rock 'n' roll, classic rock and a touch of country.
Following on the Liberty Street Stage will be Christian music recording artist Pam Seaman. She has recorded several solo projects, and has one currently in production that she recorded recently in Nashville, Tenn. She serves as the worship leader at Central Assembly of God, Cumberland, while continuing with her own speaking and singing ministry.
The band Drive, formed in 2005, is made up of veterans of many popular bands. A four-piece band consisting of Bud Eversole on keyboard, Robbie Bauer on guitar, Buck Kessler on drums, and Greg Zembower on bass, will perform on the George Street Stage from 7 to10 p.m. Drive boasts itself of being a rock 'n' roll dance band, playing pop tunes with a touch of country.
George Lucas and Allegheny of Windber, Pa., will perform on The Mechanic Street Stage from 7 to 10 p.m. Lucas is a veteran entertainer, having performed for many years all over the East Coast. Always a favorite with the Cumberland crowd, Lucas and his band performed last year at several Friday After Fives and at CanalFest/Railfest. If you like country with a kick, then you'll be sure to enjoy one of Pennsylvania's finest country bands.
Performing on The Centre Street Stage from 7 to 10 p.m. will be Split Image. Formed in 1984 by Roger Plummer, the band features Lead BB Wilson, Dick Mongold on bass, Frank Berry on saxophone and keyboard, and Plummer on drums. Rick Plummer is sound man and lighting engineer is Ray Porky George.
Rusty Godwin, of Light Moves Entertainment, coordinates the lighting of all stages at the Friday After Five musical events.
Saturday afternoon at the Farmers Market will feature the music of Rick Krauss from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the Liberty Street Stage.
Saturday Live! at Canal Place continues at the Shops at Canal Place Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m., when the Canal Place Preservation Authority presents the Frankfort Middle School Teal Steel band.
Under the direction of Fred Kesner and Roger Henry, Teal Steel has performed most recently in Virginia Beach, Va. Teal Steel has
also performed for the governor of West Virginia.
Sunday at Town Centre, on the Liberty Street Stage from 1 to 3 p.m. will be the music of Gospel 'n' Grass. Playing an eclectic mix of bluegrass and gospel music, the band has become a crowd pleaser at many events in Western Maryland and the tri-state area.
Allegany Arts Council's Sunday in the Park will feature the band Blindsided, with the band taking the stage at the Constitution Park amphitheater from 7:30 to 9 p.m.
While seating is provided, patrons are welcome to bring lawn chairs for additional seating.
Summer in the City is sponsored by the Downtown Development Commission, the Canal Place Preservation Authority and the Allegany Arts Council.
The musical programs are free, open to the public, and feature a variety of musical entertainment. More than 112 musical events are scheduled throughout the summer months at Friday After Five, Saturday Live! at Canal Place, Sunday at Town Centre, Sunday in the Park and The Farmers Market every Thursday and Saturday.
