CUMBERLAND — A Westernport man was arrested on heroin distribution charges and two Baltimore men were charged with drug violations following traffic stops late Wednesday afternoon in Westernport and early that morning in Frostburg.
At Westernport, 19-year-old Levi Trevor Doman was arrested on state Route 135 in front of Westernport Elementary School at about 5 p.m. after he was stopped for a vehicle equipment violation.
A K-9 scan and search of the vehicle led to discovery of heroin valued at $700, according to the Allegany County Bureau of Police.
A 6-year-old child who was a passenger in the vehicle was placed in the custody of the Department of Social Services when Doman was arrested on charges of distribution of heroin in a safe school zone, conspiracy to distribute heroin, possession with intent to distribute heroin, possession of heroin and possession of drug paraphernalia.
A police spokesman said “further criminal arrests will be forthcoming” in the ongoing investigation.
Doman was jailed on $50,000 bond at the Allegany County Detention Center, pending bond review in district court.
At Frostburg, a traffic stop shortly before 1 a.m. by Patrolman J. W. McCoy resulted in the arrest of Devrryn and Rodney P. Smith II, both 21, of Baltimore, each on charges of possession of controlled dangerous substance/packaging and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Police obtained a search warrant after they impounded the vehicle and then filed charges of possession with intent to distribute a controlled dangerous substance.
More than $1,000 was seized by police as a result of the arrests.
Jenkins is also wanted in Worchester County for failure to appear in court.
He remained jailed on $3,000 bond at the detention center Thursday. Smith posted $2,000 bond for his pretrial release Wednesday.
