Flames shoot from the windows of this home along Patterson Creek Road near the Burlington (W.Va.) Elementary School Wednesday afternoon as firefighters apply water using a ladder truck from the Keyser Volunteer Fire Department. Ten fire departments and two emergency medical companies responded to the afternoon fire, and some didn’t clear the scene until late Wednesday evening. The home, built in 1880, was destroyed.
