Fire of an unknown origin damaged the First Presbyterian Church on Main Street in Lonaconing, Sunday night. Damage was estimated at $30,000 to the church, built in 1861, and $5,000 to its contents. The 8:50 p.m. blaze originated in a front sanctuary area of the church. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s Office.
