The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad’s Mountain Thunder negotiates Helmstetter’s Curve past a landmark that was destroyed in a July 9 fire. Members of the community are gathering to aid farmer John Helmstetter in recovering from the barn fire. Fundraisers include a train ride, run/walk and selling of limited-edition prints of a photo in which the farmer waves to a passing train.
