Students attend war camp
The Allegany County Historical Society recently held a French and Indian War camp at the Gordon Robert House for fifth- and sixth-graders. Students learned about Allegany County’s role in the war and explored the era through American Indian crafts, re-enactors, foods, games and a field trip. Above: Mickey Miller, camp director, discusses the war with Bryce Potts and Brooke VanMeter. Top right: A Native American corn cobb game is demonstrated by Shawna Layton, left, and Madeline Adwell. Bottom right: Nicole Morral works on a design for a teepee.
