Martin’s recalls powdered milk

CUMBERLAND — Martin’s Food Markets has recalled Giant Brand Instant Nonfat Dried Milk, 32-ounce size, UPC - 68826707832, date codes FEB0911S and JAN2111S.

The item was removed from store shelves because it was produced with nonfat dried milk that is part of a national recall by Plainview Milk and may have the potential to be contaminated with salmonella bacteria.

Customers who have purchased the product should discard any unused portions and bring their purchase receipt to the store for a full refund. To date, Giant has received no reports of illnesses associated with consumption of this product.

Landfill closed,no trash pickup

CUMBERLAND — The Mountain View Landfill and Howell Trucking Inc. will be closed Saturday in observance of the Fourth of July holiday.

There will be no garbage pickup in Cumberland on Saturday. The next pickup date will be Wednesday.



Rummage sale today

CUMBERLAND — The Salvation Army will hold a rummage sale today from 9 a.m. to noon at the headquarters, 701 E. First St.

Patrons are to bring their own bags.



Ministry will hold holiday tribute

HYNDMAN, Pa. — The Hyndman Ministry Center, 232 Hyndman Road, will host a fireworks display and tribute to the armed services today at 8:30 p.m. at the center.

In case of rain, the event will take place Saturday or Sunday.



Outdoor concert Sunday afternoon

CUMBERLAND — The Salvation Army Music Conservatory students will sponsor an outdoor concert Sunday at 2 p.m. at the William Booth Tower parking lot, 220 Sommerville Ave. The event will include a youth band, choir, brass band, drama and dance.

Those attending are to bring lawn chairs.



Depression glass on display

CUMBERLAND — The Queen City Glass Club is sponsoring a display of red, white and blue Depression glass at the Gordon-Roberts House, 218 Washington Street.



W.Va. DMV offices closed today

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — All West Virginia Division of Motor Vehicles Regional Offices will be closed Friday in observance of Independence Day.

Additionally, the Martinsburg and Kanawha City DMV Regional Offices, will remain closed Saturday.
