What House passed should be called ‘Cap and Tax’ bill instead

To the Editor:

The House of Representatives narrowly passed the Cap and Trade bill — ‘Cap and Tax’ seems more appropriate — on June 26.

All day people were bombarding phone lines so much that the switchboards overloaded. If this bill passes the Senate and gets signed into law it will mean higher cost on every household. It will also mean coal miners will soon be in dire straights.

What is bad for our area is that the Times-News published this news on Page 2 in a six-inch article. This deserved front page status.

Two days of Michael Jackson on Page 1. It is very sad that Michael was robbed of his childhood and had a troubled life.

It is also sad what is happening to our country—”change” is all for the worse.
