CUMBERLAND — N. Joanne and Arthur S. Davis Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va., celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Aug. 20, 2010.
Joanne and Arthur were married at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Cumberland. In Cumberland, Joanne and Arthur reared three children, Kenneth Davis of Cumberland, Karen Davis Raymond of Fredericksburg, and William Davis of Atlanta, Ga.
They have four grandchildren, Monica Davis of Cumberland, Kenneth Davis Jr. of Madison, Wisc., and Danielle Raymond and Jack Raymond of Fredericksburg.
Before retirement, Arthur taught mathematics at Fort Hill High School and later worked for 30 years in the aerospace industry for Hercules Incorporated of Wilmington, Del., part at Allegany Ballistics Laboratory.
Joanne taught at East Side School, Cumberland, and later became a dedicated homemaker.
The couple celebrated by renewing their vows at their family church of many years, Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland, officiated by the Rev. Edward C. Chapman and by having a family reunion weekend in Cumberland.
