LONACONING — John H. and Dorothy J. (Crawford) Brode celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary one year ago on Aug. 8. A dinner celebration was held at the Bishop Murray Center, Lonaconing, on July 18, 2009, and was hosted by John and Dorothy, special friend, Bonnie Andrews, and their children.
The couple was married Aug. 8, 1959, in Lonaconing. Standing for the couple at their wedding was the bride's sister, the late Margaret Green, and the groom's brother, Robert Brode.
A photo story slide show of the couple's life together was presented by their son, John. The couple was also serenaded with a song written and sang by their son, David. A picture frame mat for the couple was signed by those in attendance. Pictures were displayed of the couple's wedding and anniversaries.
Dinner was served buffet-style with the help of the Frances Spano family. A threetier wedding cake decorated in white and gold was served.
John and Dorothy are the proud parents of three sons, John Brode and wife, Lynnette, Cumberland; David Brode and wife, Flori, California; and Tom Brode, Lonaconing. They are also the proud grandparents of Daniel, Megan, Jennifer, Jacob and Joshua Brode.
