CUMBERLAND — The family of Doris L. (White) and Russell L. Livengood Jr. recently held a 60th wedding anniversary celebration in their honor. Due to inclement weather, the party was held in the spring. It was hosted at the home of Bruce and Karen Sue Irons of Cumberland. Karen Sue is the niece of the anniversary couple. Floral arrangements of white flowers and red roses adorned the tables. The cake was a white two tier cake decorated with fresh red rose pedals.
Doris and Russell were married on Jan. 28, 1950, by the Rev. Scribner. The couple was married in Cumberland, with the late Franklin Hinze and Elva Mae (Nesbitt) Hinze serving as attendants.
Shortly after their marriage, Russell served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War.
Russell is retired from the Cumberland Fire Department after 42 years of service, with 23 of those years serving as fire chief. Doris retired from Sacred Heart Hospital where she worked in radiology for many years and later in the Pastoral Care Department.
Russell is the son of the late Russell and Julia Livengood and Doris is the daughter of the late Harper and Clara White. They are the parents of two daughters, Carole Tilley of Gallop, N.M., and Sandra Armstrong of Lancaster, Va. They are the grandparents of Angela Miller McNall, Scott Miller, Gregg Miller and Daniel Armstrong. Russell and Doris are great-grandparents of Sarah, Isabella, Raven, Aaron and Sage Miller, as well as Christian and Teddy McNall.
