ROMNEY, W.Va. — Wendell and Betty Moreland enjoyed their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception June 13 at the South Branch Inn. The event was hosted by their sons, Stephen and family, Romney, and Mark and family, Lewisburg, with approximately 100 friends and relatives in attendance.
Wendell and Betty were married June 3, 1950, at the Christian Church, Romney, by the late Donald Spangler.
The couple have lived in Romney almost all theirº married life, except for the time Wendell was in the army during the Korean Conflict. Wendell retired from General Telephone Company as a switchman in 1988.
Wendell is the son of late John and Sallie (Kidwell) Moreland, Okonako, and Betty is the daughter of the late George and Louise (Shank) Davis of Romney.
The Morelands reside at 405 Elk Place, where they have lived for the past 55 years.
