HYNDMAN, Pa. — The proud children and grandchildren of Ray V. and H. Jean Evans, of Hyndman, wish to congratulate them on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary!
The couple was married on Feb. 27, 1948, in the parsonage of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church, Ellerslie, Md. The honor attendants were the bride’s sister, the late Sarah Frances Burkett, and her husband, Cletus Burkett, of Mann’s Choice, Pa.
Raised in Hyndman, Ray is the son of the late Mahlon and Nellie (Aberle) Evans. After serving in the United States Merchant Marines, he began a 43-year career with the Potomac Edison Company (now Allegheny Power) in Hyndman and Cumberland, Md., retiring in 1990. Jean was raised in Cumberland and State Line, Pa., and is the daughter of the late John and Ida (Madden) Cavan. She was employed in the EKG Department of Memorial Hospital in Cumberland and retired in 1991 after 23 years of service.
They are the parents of Gregory, Hagerstown, Md.; Gail Sides, wife of John, Tucson, Ariz.; and David, husband of Brenda, also of Tucson. Their grandchildren are Jennifer Sides, Beverly Hills, Calif.; and Matt Sides, Alex and Erik Evans, all of Tucson.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary as guests at the Bedford Springs Resort, Bedford, Pa.

Howsare Anniversary
Warren and Dee Howsare of Clearville, Pa., recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their family had a card shower and money tree for the occasion and Ferman and Denna Cruz of Clearville surprised them with a music gram. The couple’s great-niece, Morgan Bowser of Everett, presented them with a 50th anniversary bell. A family cookout was held at the couple’s home. Their were four cakes served in honor of Warren and Dee’s anniversary, Warren and Dee’s birthdays, their son Brian’s birthday and the 34th anniversary of CJ and Lee Kifer of Bedford. CJ is the brother of Dee. Marking the family milestones are, from left, Warren and Dee, Brian, and Lee and CJ Kifer. Also attending were Brad, Carisa and Alexis Bowser of Everett. Carisa is the daughter of CJ and Lee. Dee’s sister, Grace Burl of Fountain Hills, Ariz., also attended.
