FORT ASHBY, W.Va. — Joseph Sr. and Linda (Twigg) Alkire celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Jan. 14, 2013. They were honored by their children with a special celebration on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Berean Baptist Fellowship Hall in Fort Ashby. Those in attendance included the couple’s siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The reception included a full dinner, cake, personal stories and special music to honor the couple. Joe and Linda were also presented with a special picture memory book that captured their 50 years together. This was a wonderful evening of reminiscing and new memories were made.
In addition, a cake reception and card shower were held at the Berean Baptist Fellowship Hall on Sunday, Jan. 13. This was a celebration with the couple’s church family from Berean Independent Baptist Church. Many were able to attend and share in this special occasion.
The couple’s children and spouses, Pamela and Terry Timbrook, Joseph and Pam Alkire Jr., and Robyn and Michael Orndorf plan to honor the couple again in June of 2013. They will be taking a special weekend trip together as a family to a cabin in Garrett County.
The Alkires have five grandchildren, Stacey Timbrook, Heather (Alkire) and Michael Iser, Rachal (Alkire) and Jeremy Martin, Joshua Alkire and Lanson Orndorf; and two great-grandchildren, Brayla Iser and Camden Iser. The couple also has a special grandson, Terry Jean “T.J.” Timbrook Jr. , whom they look forward to seeing again in heaven.
God has truly blessed Joe and Linda and their family through all of these years. Without him, none of this would be possible. So, first and foremost the couple would like to thank their heavenly father for his love and for his blessing in their 50 years of marriage. They would also like to thank their children and their families for honoring them and for making their 50th anniversary so special.
